BBC Friday – Nov. 4th @ Flowering Around – BI Harbor Commission Special Report!

BI Harbor Commission Special Report! – Economic Impact of Marine Waterfront+City Dock Development

Thom Hamilton and Mark Leese of the Bainbridge Island Harbor Commission will be addressing the BBC this Friday on a time-sensitive matter: “BI Marine Waterfront Developments and City Dock Redevelopment.” These issue will be raised by the BI Harbor Commission next Wednesday, November 9th, before the City Council. Hamilton and Leese, representing the BI Harbor Commission, would like to test-run their presentation with us this Friday.

“Many Islanders will recall that the City chose to take the Washington State Ferries (WSF) offer of $2 million and waive all claims to any development rights on their maintenance facility.  The Harbor Commission, comprising Island citizens appointed by the City Council, with strong support from the boating community, firmly believe this money should only be used for marine waterfront developments. The City Dock redevelopment would be a very appropriate project for a substantial portion of these funds.

“We are keen to have the support of members of the Chamber of Commerce in our presentation to the City Council at their meeting at 5.30 pm Nov 9th, because the Council Members need to know that it is not just the boating community that are proposing that the City Dock should be redeveloped, but also businesses in Winslow who would benefit from this project. We are estimating indirect revenue from the larger and seriously upgraded marina to be $1,106,000 per annum assuming that that an average boater will spend $86 per night, with three persons per boat.”

Come join us this Friday to hear Hamilton and Leese test-present their case for the City Council next Wednesday. This presentation raises key, timely economic issues that should concern not only businesses in the downtown core, but all Bainbridge Islanders doing local business.

So, invite a friend or associate to join us for this Friday’s fascination presentation and discussion – and another delicious cup of BBC!
