Welcome to virtual BBC Friday 23 April 2021 – Year 2.6
This Sunny BBC Friday, we welcome special guest Dr. Peter Lucas who is joining us to discuss Washington health care reform. Health Care For All WA is “working for high quality, sustainable, affordable, publicly-funded health care for all Washington residents.” (healthcareforallwa.org)
Peter Lucas: “Throughout my career I have directly observed the inefficiencies, corruption, inequities, and moral deficiencies of the American health care system. For many years I have been involved in organizations whose mission is to establish a single-payer health care system either on the national or state level.”
Dr. Lucas received his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University, did a psychiatric residency at the UC San Diego, and then a research fellowship at the National Institute of Mental Health. This was followed by years of academia on the faculty of UCLA in administration, teaching, research, and clinical care. A staff psychiatrist for 19 years at Group Health Cooperative, for the past eight years Dr. Lucas has worked at a community health center and in telepsychiatry. Currently he is Director of Psychiatry for Babylon US (babylonhealth.com) and also provides direct patient care via telemedicine. Dr. Lucas is a board member of Health Care for All WA.
