Think Club Roundtable Discussion Topic: Last week’s Ed Stern perspectives on Island Identity, locally and regionally, “A City Trying To Be A County”
Last week Ed Stern shared some marvelous perspective on our Island identity – historically, and in the context of surrounding West Sound communities, including the Suquamish Tribe. He considered a number of dualities: density vs. sprawl; county vs. city; doing business the regulatory way vs. incentivization way; urban vs. suburban.
Discussion Questions: 1. How do you feel, even emotionally, about living on the island? 2. What are three key things you like about Bainbridge Island? 3. How can we approach the pros and cons about our island to keep the conversation going, without squelching one another’s ideas and perspectives? If time, Question 4: how can we stay connected with, and support in business, other regional groups (Filipino, Suquamish, military) both on- and off-island?
