BBC Friday 14 June 2013 – “Telling Your Story”

Join us this BBC Friday for Another Story Telling Time

thumb_0051Greetings lovely BBC People! Hasn’t summer been just … well, just … you know … like ….

So, here we are, in the thick of June and the lazy days of summer! Therefore this BBC Friday we will honor once more the forth founding principle of BBC: The BBC offers its members the opportunity to build connections of trust between each others’ companies and services, sharing skills and specialties, and critiquing professional copy. Part of the way we started out building trust in one another’s businesses was to share our stories, who we are as business owners and entrepreneurs. Story telling.

Four or five minutes each: for whoever feels the narrative muse to tell a story, here’s the opportunity to talk about your journey into your present business out of some previous business incarnation, or your story of journeying from the old country to the Puget Sound, or your story about moving from large corporation, government agency, or novelist-in-a-cave, to network administrator or office ergonomics resource or personal trainer and business consultant. Or you can make up a story about what you’d like to be — businesswise. For, in a sense, as serial entrepreneurs, we’re all businesswise!

So, invite your friends and associates to join us for this exciting event … and another delicious cup of BBC!

BBC @ OfficeXpats – 403 Madison Avenue N, Bainbridge Island, Upstairs At the Pavilion

7:30-8:00 coffee/tea, visiting, informal networking
8:00-8:45 “Telling Your Story”
8:30-9:00 more networking, sharing, visiting

Sincerely,
The BBC Management, KaveDragen Ink, & Other Entrepreneurial Sentients From Planet BBC

June – OfficeXpats Tuesday@Noon Workshop – “The Self Publishing workshop returns! (noon-1:00)
Still Two Sessions to go! Now more than ever, it’s within anyone’s reach to write, produce, and publish a book, and it turns out to be a great way to build your business and your credibility as an independent professional. You may already have the content for an inexpensive or free 100-page book, and it just needs some strategic morphing. With self-publishing (also called “alternative” or “independent” publishing), the author is responsible for the entire process, including design (cover/interior), formats, price, distribution, marketing and PR. Authors can do it all themselves or outsource all or part of the process. In this workshop series, Randy Kuckuck, founder of PublishNext, along with some of the company’s editorial and design experts return to help us explore how small businesses can navigate some of the choices and issues. Xpat regulars Dave Kragen, Izzy Sanchez, and Annette Walker will also contribute. Session III, June 18, 12-1 pm: Designing a book to be your best advertising piece. Session IV, June 25, 12-1 pm: The submission process, and marketing your book. (officexpats.com/self-publishing-for-revenue-and-business-building/)
