This BBC Friday we’ll be graced with special guest Dinah Satterwhite affording us a peek into the history and adventure of the Bainbridge Island Studio Tour. This year’s theme: The heart of local art!
The Bainbridge Island Studio Tour, founded in 1983 in an island artist’s home, quickly became a popular island tradition. Tour manager Dinah Satterwhite will speak briefly about the history of the Tour and bring us up to date with behind-the-scenes details.
Find out what it means to “jury” an artist at a big art show. Two additional artists — including delightful longtime BBC Regular Sylvia Carlton — will be on hand to share stories about the Tour and show-&-tell some of their work! There will be time for questions, and brochures will be available for this year’s event, August 12-14.
Dinah Satterwhite has been an artist in the Tour for 20 years, and the Studio Tour manager for 9 years. Dinah handles all details from publicity to budgeting, advertising to artist applications, brochure design and printing to hall rentals. She’s also a fine art photographer known for her brightly colored canvas wraps and metal prints of koi fish, regional landscapes, and abstract “painterly” work. Her photos, cards, and gift items can be found in galleries and gift shops on the West Coast, and locally at the BI Museum of Art and Poulsbo’s Verksted Gallery. A commercial photographer, Dinah specializes in corporate products and artwork, and she has fun working with interior designers and Real Estate home “stagers.” Before managing the Studio Tour, Dinah managed the Bainbridge Island Arts Walk, and in 1999 founded the Poulsbo Art Walk and managed it for many years. She also founded the Bainbridge Island Student Art Contest in 2000 and managed it for 14 years. Dinah is an accomplished pianist and piano teacher, and lives on Eagle Harbor with her husband, son, and mother. BI Studio Tour Website.
